UNITED BY ONE LOVE
Read Colossians 3: 9-17
Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds
everything together in perfect harmony.
Some friends and I went to a piano symphony concert
in Parnu, Estonia. The musicians played beautifully, and
it seemed to me as if time stood still. When I looked at the
program, I noticed that all the young musicians were from
different countries — Germany, China, North Korea, France,
Austria. Despite the fact that everyone was from a different
place, we all spoke the same language that night — the language of music.
In much the same way, when I read the meditations in
Mesto Vstrechi (the Russian edition of The Upper Room) I feel
a sense of unity with the authors of each meditation. We are
all brothers and sisters in
faith from different countries of the world, each
speaking our own language
and united by our love for
God. No borders or language barriers can divide us because God’s love unites us all
into one big church here on earth.
Prayer: Dear Father, we are grateful for your love to each
of your children. Teach us to love one another however
far apart we are. We pray especially for your church on
earth — a church made up of many languages and many
