THE POWER OF PRAISE
My mouth is filled with your praise,
declaring your splendor all day long.
Recently, the leader of my Christian youth group asked
each of us why we enjoyed attending church. One of my
friends said with a smile, “Because the food is always delicious.” Others replied, “The sermon always fits our situation.”
Some said they liked the conversations. I said that I liked the
time to praise and worship God. I like singing, and as I lift up
my praises to God, I feel my heart fill with peace and joy.
My situation was not always good. I was often stressed
and depressed, struggling to find words to pray. During those
times, praise and worship helped me to realize that God is
always with me and will never leave me alone. I felt God
comforting me and whispering, “Never will I leave you; never
will I forsake you” (Heb. 13: 5). Through praise and worship,
we can all connect with God who sustains and strengthens us.
Prayer: Beloved God, thank you for being with us in all
circumstances. We praise you with all our heart, soul, and
strength. May our worship be pleasing to you as we pray,
“Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy
kingdom come. Thy will be
done, as in heaven, so in
earth. Give us day by day
our daily bread. And forgive
us our sins; for we also
forgive every one that
is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver
us from evil (Luke 11: 2-4, kjv). Amen.
